Why we fight ?
Ontem fui ao cinema, assistir o documentario “ Why we fight?” que trata dos motivos pelos quais os Estados Unidos estao em guerra com o resto do mundo. O filme tem como ponto de partida o ultimo discurso televisivo feito pelo entao presidente D Eisenhower em 1961.
“ A vital element in keeping the peace is our military establishment. Our arms must be mighty, ready for instant action, so that no potential aggressor may be tempted to risk his own destruction... This conjunction of an immense military establishment and a large arms industry is new in the American experience. The total influence — economic, political, even spiritual — is felt in every city, every statehouse, every office of the federal government.
In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist”
O filme eh excelente, mais informativo e menos viesado que os do Michael Moore. No final da sessao, um monte de gente aplaudiu. A maioria, entretanto, ficou calada. Como na ultima eleicao, ontem naquela sala, deu Bush de novo.

Boa pergunta essa. Confesso que nao sei. Uma ignorancia consciente acho...de quem se recusa a pensar. De quem claramente opta pela alienacao, por um conservadorismo tapado, que opta pelo American Idol e a final de basquete. triste
